Shirazz & The Slip Dixies

8:00 PM20:00

Shirazz & The Slip Dixies

Shirazz & the Slip Dixies will be at Compass Pizza for an evening jazz party full of the hottest trad jazz around.

For almost a decade Shirazz has held a reputation as one of Melbourne's most exciting dixieland bands, playing to packed houses and standing ovations across Australia and New Zealand. Expect the hottest jazz outside Louisiana as classic favourites, re-imagined pop and the odd cheeky original marinate in Shirazz's heady mix of hot trad jazz and swampy street beats.

The Slipdixies formed in mid-2015 and are inspired by the early jazz and blues music of the twenties and thirties. Playing hot driving rhythms and laid-back blues, old favourites and lesser-known forgotten treasures of a bygone age, they create the sound of New Orleans with a mild modern twist.

Over polenta chips and mushroom pizza, strange Italian décor and a patched retelling of history through a vagrant’s lens, begin the weekend with absurdity and doughy goodness.
