Is It Light Where You Are

Is it light where you are create grooving, gliding synth-driven electronica; a dark, glowing sound which towers with melancholic pop sense on a sea of processed beats.

Is it light where you are (IILWYA) bring lush, textured synthesizer and goth-slowrave to Compass Pizza this March. The Electronica duo punctuate the space with their deep driving rhythms and sensual melodies in a cooled out, dark neon style which recalls Depeche Mode, M83, Blade Runner & Suzanne Ciani.

IILWYA is the vision of projection artist, vocalist & songwriter Hugh Matthews (Synths, Vocals) who’s distinctive soft neon aesthetic can be felt in the brooding soundscapes he conjures and their accompanying bespoke visual backdrops. Matthews is joined by producer Yonatan Rotem, who’s distinctive ‘rain harvest’ production style embellishes the audio with immersive scale & vastness.

Teddy

Teddy (Daniel Tedford) is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
With many years of performance tucked under the belt, Teddy has been spotted among bands such as the Willie Wagtails, 8ft Felix, Ice Cream in a Mug and more recently Ogopogo playing guitar, tenor banjo, violin, mandolin and vocals.

In his solo work his influences come across more, with his songs harking back to older writing styles of pop music; a blending of 1960s cheer and the 70s cheese of pop music, part 90s grunge melancholy and some soul groove for good measure.

After spending the last year or so working on a lush sounding debut album ‘Choo Chox’, now is the time for Teddy to take to the stage and perform his brand new batch of material. Be sure to catch a new sound from an old hand in the Melbourne music scene.

El Tee, Madame Sledge and Good Bangs solo soiree

$10

A couple of rock n roll chooks come together to share a few slices of pizza and a few tunes - easy on the cheese and heavy on the hits. Join El Tee, Madame Sledge (of Sledgehammer) and Good Bangs (of Bad Bangs) for a Saturday night solo soiree.

El Tee is something to truly treasure. L.A born singer songwriter, Lauren Tarver melds heartbreak with effortless alt-country styling. A vibrant affirmation of love and longing in the most candid way possible. Get ready to swoon.

What can be said of Madame Sledge without repeating a cliche? Starting Sledgehammer in early 2018, Sophie Lubczenko knows how to write the hits. So good you really can't help but embrace it all.

Heavy-hearted, personal, and even a little cheeky at times, Shelby De Fazio has a good knack for a good tune. Stepping away from Bad Bangs for a rare solo performance, prepare for a stripped back solo mode of new songs, classic and maybe even a cover or 2.
