Quarteto Curió is a vibrant Brazilian/Jazz group formed in 2015. Lead singer Laura Souza moved to Melbourne at the beginning of 2015 from Brazil and has effortlessly become a spear head for samba/choro in Melbourne. She also singS in a traditional Afro-Samba group called Wombatuque, who pay homage to the roots of samba.
Guitarist Eamon Roy comes from a background of studying classical guitar at the Conservatorium Of Music at Melbourne University, specializing in Brazilian guitar and studying the playing of Baden Powell. He has been on the Brazilian/Jazz seen for over 5 years, playing in Alitja along side Al Kerr and Doug de Vries in various other projects.
William Hoffmann (accordion) and Hannes Lackmann (Drums and Percussion) met whilst studying Jazz and Improvisation at The Victorian College Of The Arts and have developed a unique vocabulary of improvisation that generates an electric dialogue between the other members in Quarteto Curio.
